Any Theme Goes Art Show
and Sale, June 4, 2009
Two years ago, the Arc of Camden County initiated a program to invite staff members and service recipients, who are accomplished artists, to display their work in the Agency’s Board Room. To date, two service recipients and three staff members have had their art displayed as a result of the Agency’s program.
Staff member John Wesolowski was the first artist to have his work displayed. Through John’s efforts the second featured artist Hoover Brandon also had his art displayed at the Runnemede Library as part of their community art program. Michael Jackson, who was featured in a recent Spotlight edition and staff members Beverly Davis and Joanna Nardelli round out the other invited artists who have displayed their art.
As a result of the success of the program and the many positive comments from those who have seen the artist’s works, the Agency has decided to take another step forward in its cultural dabbling.
Thursday June 4, 2009, the Agency will be hosting its First Annual Art Show and Sale. The show will invite the five-featured artists to display selected pieces. Additionally, a “Call For Entries” is going out to family members, agency members, service recipients, staff members and friends of the agency to submit works to be considered for display.
The show’s name is “Any Theme Goes”. All media (except video) can be submitted for consideration. Photography, oil, pastels, sculpture, watercolor, digital art, charcoal, etc. are welcomed. There is no theme as the show’s name indicates. A nominal submission fee of $10.00 will be requested for up to 5 submissions. A $5.00 admission donation will be accepted the night of show. The admission donations can also be made by Pay-Pal on the Agency’s website, arccamden.org .
Artists are encouraged to offer their works for sale. A 10% commission on sold works will be kept by the Agency to assist in the fund raising objective of the show. All submissions that are accepted must be appropriately framed and/or prepared for display and possible sale.
The show will be held in a tented venue on the grounds of the Berlin Adult Training Center at 215 West White Horse Pike in Berlin, NJ. There will be live entertainment performed by Walter Bell, jazz flutist and his ensemble. Those who attended the agency’s 50th anniversary celebration can attest to Walter Bell’s classy style and sound. Guests will enjoy complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres.
All proceeds will be used to assist in providing programming to the over 600 people served by the Arc of Camden County.
For additional information on submitting artwork see submission instructions at the agency’s website, arccamden.org or call the agency’s main office at 856-768-0845.
