Adult Training Services
Facility Based Programs
Adult Training Services provide opportunities for people with developmental disabilities to explore interests, develop skills, and interact with their communities in a supportive, noncompetitive environment. As a provider of services for the New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities, the centers serve more than two hundred individuals who are twenty-one and older. Located in seven centers throughout Camden County, The Arc’s Adult Training Centers seek to provide a wide range of services to consumers who are eligible for this program. Each center works to meet the needs of each consumer through a person-centered approach, helping develop daily living, communication, social, habilitation and community integration skills. Each center is staffed by a Supervisor, an Assistant Supervisor and a team of Instructors and is supported by a Program Specialist.
Our programs are person-centered and based upon the needs of the people we serve, with activities and programs tailored to meet individual needs and desires. Daily activities in the areas of personal grooming, cooking, baking, cleaning, arts and crafts, and sub-contract work may be included. In these and other activities, interaction with the environment and with others is emphasized, stimulating the acquisition and practice of communication and socialization skills Pre-vocational programs prepare consumers for transition to more demanding vocational settings, including supported employment.
Frequent trips into the community for shopping, volunteer work, and participation in community events and functions foster community awareness and inclusion.
All of our Adult Training Center programs operate twelve months per year, Mondays through Fridays. Program hours are 9:00 to 3:00 and transportation is provided on a curb-to-curb basis.
