A Heartfelt Visit to Inclusion Coffee Shop

Earlier this week, the consumers from our LIHN Day Program had the privilege of spending time at Inclusion Coffee Shop in Elmer, NJ—an experience that left a lasting impression on every one of us. From the moment we walked through the door, it was clear that this café is far more than a place to enjoy good food and great coffee. It is a space built on purpose, compassion, and the unwavering belief that everyone deserves to belong.

Inclusion C was inspired by the journey of Rome, the son of owner and founder, Amanda. Rome has Down syndrome, and through his eyes, Amanda learned some of life’s most important lessons: that every person deserves to be seen, valued, and included. In honor of these lessons—and the incredible light her son brings into the world—she created a café where inclusion isn’t just a concept, but a daily practice.

The mission of Inclusion Coffee Shop is simple yet powerful: to serve delicious meals and beverages while providing meaningful employment opportunities for adults with disabilities. The café doesn’t just offer jobs—it offers purpose, confidence, belonging, and community. Staff members work closely with individuals to teach life skills, social skills, and workplace competencies, all while fostering an environment that celebrates the beauty of every unique difference.

During our visit, our consumers were welcomed with warmth, patience, and enthusiasm. They were invited to participate, learn, and be part of the remarkable work happening in this space. It was an uplifting experience to witness a workplace where inclusion isn’t an act of accommodation—it’s the foundation of everything they do.

We are incredibly grateful to Amanda and the entire team at Inclusion Coffee Shop for opening their doors and their hearts to us. Their dedication to spreading awareness, creating opportunities, and building a more inclusive community is truly inspiring. Experiences like this remind us of what is possible when people come together with kindness and intention.

We encourage everyone to visit and support Inclusion Coffee Shop—whether for a cup of coffee, a meal, or simply to witness the difference they are making in the lives of so many.
